By: Eunice Mejia, Editor April 29 2010 10:00AM ET Foreclosures has been declining in most of the 20 worst hit spots cities in this past three months, according to a release issued this Thursday by RealtyTrac, a leading online marketer of foreclosed homes. According to RealtyTrac CEO James Saccacio "the decreasing foreclosure activity in some of the nation's top foreclosure hit spots in the first quarter is not a sure signal that those areas are out of the woods yet" Join our FREE newsletter at http://www.mortgagelendingnews.com today One of the things Saccacio attributes the improvement is to the programs that the government has been developing like foreclosure preventions and a new program that encourages the banks to facilitate short sales. Those are transactions in which a seller with lender approval sells their home to someone else for less than what he owes on the mortgage. RealtyTrac's spokesman Rick Sharga said"Lenders take about twice the hit on a foreclosure as on a short sale" This doesn't mean economy is better now, but is really a great step to the healing process of it.
